
Overview
Donegal has a long coastline with many great places to run. There are several large towns.
Base Towns
Letterkenny
Letterkenny is the largest town in Donegal and is a great base to explore the north of the county. It is on the wild Atlantic way route.
Donegal Town
Donegal town in the south of the county and is a good base to visit the southern parts of Donegal’s wild Atlantic way route.
Other Towns
Several small coastal towns could be a base from which to explore the Donegal sections of the WildAtlantic Way: Downings, Gweedore, Dungloe, Ardara, Glencolmcille, and Killybegs.
Running Events
Donegal Wild Atlantic Marathon and Half Marathon: These races are held in May or June and based from the town of Killybegs https://warriorsrun.ie/
Sligo Coast to Coast: A 10 mile run along the coastline of the Atlantic Way in Sligo, held in September annually. https://www.facebook.com/Sligocoasttocoast
Running Routes
Sligo Town: As always a great way to see the town is with a jog around.
Sligo Park Run: A free starting morning community 5K run. https://www.parkrun.ie/sligo/
